Emotionl Regulation
Difficulties
Emotion regulation difficulties involve trouble managing intense or rapidly shifting emotions in healthy and constructive ways. This can lead to feeling overwhelmed by anger, sadness, anxiety, or shame, and may result in impulsive behaviors, mood swings, or difficulty maintaining relationships. People struggling with emotion regulation often feel like their emotions control them, rather than the other way around.
These challenges can stem from a variety of experiences, including past trauma, high stress, or underlying mental health conditions such as depression, borderline personality disorder, or anxiety. The good news is that emotion regulation is a skill—and like any skill, it can be learned and strengthened over time. Therapy can help individuals better understand their emotional responses, identify triggers, and develop strategies to respond with greater balance and self-compassion. With the right support, it’s possible to build emotional resilience and feel more grounded in everyday life.
Using integrative tools like CBT, DBT-informed therapy, and behavioral activation, we’re able to support emotional balance and daily function.
